our mission

The Trust helps young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who cannot raise enough funds to experience sail training on a sea going voyage.

the voyages

Voyages are run by UK Sail Training Organisations, members of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO), and can last between two and 14 days. Vessels range in size from 18 to 60 metres in length and meet the set government safety operating standards.

no previous experience required

As part of a team, you will be shown how to do everything and be involved in every aspect of running the boat:

  • navigating and steering

  • sail changes

  • keeping a lookout

  • cooking, cleaning and washing up

learnings and benefits

Learning to sail as part of a team means:

  • new skills and responsibilities

  • grow your confidence

  • you will build new, lasting friendships

  • discover new places

  • be immersed in nature, seeing beautiful sunrises, sunsets, marine wildlife, birdlife and witnessing the ever-changing weather patterns

  • an adventure of a lifetime!

your sailing record

The Trustees ask that you keep a record of your experience - either with a blog, log, journal and, of course, take photographs. We share these on the website, our Facebook page and with other applicants.
